As you can see, the building work is progressing well on our extension to provide 10 new single ground floor ensuite inpatient rooms, new relatives room, treatment and therapy rooms, multi-faith room, renovated and enlarged Day Care Centre, as well as improved visitors and reception areas.  We have been overwhelmed by the support and love of our local community which has enabled us to raise the money needed to fund the project.

Many trades will be on site as the external landscaping comes together, flooring is laid, second fix electrics are completed and painting continues, we are currently raising funds to equip the building including 10 new Ook Snow Medical Surgical beds which are considered to be the ‘gold standard’ in acute care beds.  We are working hard to achieve the ‘home from home’ feeling that our patients and their families value so much.  Bedrooms have cabinets to house the medical gasses, suction systems and hoists, the hoist rails are recessed into the ceilings.  Furnishings, although approved for infection control, have a softer and less institutional feel.  It will be a fantastic new facility for the people of Andover, Stockbridge and the surrounding villages.

Work started on 21st September 2018 and is due to be completed in early December 2019.  It will then be equipped, deep cleaned and commissioned.  We anticipate the new extension will be open to patients by the end of January 2020.  As 2020 is the 30th Anniversary of the opening of the original hospice building. it will be fitting for the new hospice to be officially opened during this special year.

Take part in our brand new fundraising event this December …

Rudolph Run is a fantastic way for schools, nurseries and youth groups to celebrate the festive season while raising vital funds for the Countess of Brecknock Hospice.  Children, teachers, group leaders and even families can take part, enjoy the fun plus get ‘fit and glowing’ at the same time.

It’s simply a sponsored run or walk; you set the date and distance, and use any location available to you – your playground, school hall, field or local park.  Then you get in touch with us and we’ll give you everything you need:

Reindeer antlers and Rudolph noses for all the children taking part, which they can keep afterwards.

A Santa suit for the teacher or group leader because you never see Rudolph without Santa!

Sponsorship envelopes for the children to collect money from family and friends.

We can even visit your school or group to speak to you about the Rudolph Run and tell you the difference you can make at the Countess of Brecknock Hospice this Christmas.

Full details can be found here: COBH-Rudolph Run-A5 Postcard-v2-FINAL   OR email or phone on 01264 359789 and we’ll send you a pack.

To reserve your antlers, noses and Santa suit, complete this card COBH-Rudolph Run-A5-Return Postcard-v2-FINAL and return to us and we’ll do the rest.  Your Rudolph Run kits will be delivered from 1st November onwards.

Please note: this is our first Rudolph Run and we only have a limited number of antlers, noses and Santa suits available – so don’t miss out!
