10@10 Late Night Walk 2020 Saturday 19th September
We had planned to open entries for our walk this month but with the fast changing Covid-19 situation, we are now going to wait until 1st August. The 10@10 Walk will happen but it may be a virtual event or amended for 2020 to make sure we keep everyone safe and follow the latest government guidelines.  See next month’s newsletter for full details.

Supported by Stitch-a-Logo and Harrow Way School.

We can’t invite you to see around our new hospice at the moment but we thought you might like to take our virtual tour. Click on the link and then scroll to the bottom of our Home Page and press play to watch the video.

When it comes to handing back a loved one’s precious belongings, plastic carrier bags are widely used across the health service.  But there is no dignity in a carrier bag, either for the patient or the relatives who we have spent so many intense days and hours with. Since moving into our new building, we are now returning patients’ belonging in a white cardboard box instead of plastic bags.  Our hope is that families will find some solace in receiving the belongings of their loved one in these special boxes and feel we are treating these very personal items with greater respect and dignity.

ALL VISITORS TO THE HOSPICE ARE NOW REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS  – If you have any symptoms, please do not come to the hospice.

The Hospice continues to operate 24/7 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Visitor restrictions are in force and are limited to family members. To protect our patients and clinical staff, please continue to support us by donating online via our website: www.cobh.org.uk or by using online platforms such as Facebook and JustGiving.

If you bring donations to the hospice, please put your donation in an envelope with your contact details and relevant information. You are then asked to pop it in the red post box which is located in the front porch of the hospice.  Please call 01264 359789 or email: info@cobh.org.uk  if you have any queries or require information about donating or raising money for the hospice.

The drinks are on us!   Sherine Locke, one of our Health Care Assistants, gave money in memory of her mum for this fantastic serving cart which we are using as a drinks bar. Drinks for patients are free of charge and provided by the Hospice Charity. Visitors are asked to make a donation.  Thank you Sherine.

Happy 60th Birthday Kim!  Another of our Health Care Assistants, Kim Baynes recently celebrated her 60th Birthday. Kim wasn’t able to have a big celebration as planned but still managed to have lots of socially distanced visitors and enjoy her day. Kim also decided to have her head shaved to raise money for CoBH and The Air Ambulance.  £553.75 has been donated to the hospice. Thanks Kim – you look amazing.

Abbotts Ann Village – Lockdown Plant Sale
On 23rd May, Abbotts Ann held a lockdown plant sale. Maps were provided to show which houses in the village had plants for sale and the route meant that you could have a lovely walk around the village at the same time. The plant sale raised a magnificent  £1397.78 for CoBH. Thank you to everyone involved.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so generously during lockdown.  As you know, it is very difficult for us to fundraise at the moment and this enormously affects our ability to support the running costs of the new hospice.  Your help is much appreciated.

Could you make a donation, regular gift to CoBH or set up a Facebook Birthday page?  We can’t fundraise at the moment but if you could give online for a special occasion or set-up a monthly standing order this would help us over this difficult period.  Thank you.

A gift to CoBH in your will  will allow us to continue supporting patients through one of life’s most difficult journeys, for generations to come. Please support us today so we can continue to be here tomorrow and in the future.

If you have made the incredible decision to leave a gift to CoBH in your will, or are considering doing so, we would love to be able to thank you and talk about the difference you can make. Contact Michele Gard on 01264 359789.
