Winter landscape - frosted trees in the forest at the sunset with sunlight beams

Christmas at CoBH
We have had a busy few weeks.  Our Christmas Trees are shining.  Day Centre enjoyed Christmas Lunch and thank you to Tesco and our catering staff for supporting this.  We haven’t had a donkey to visit but we have had a pony.  An array of adorable dogs have also been to see us.  We also had a extra special visit from Father Christmas to help a hospice family celebrate early this year.  Letters and parcels were exchanged and we were really grateful to Father Christmas for making room in his busy calendar to make this possible.

We are delighted to welcome Julia Johnson- Ferguson, Speciality Doctor in Palliative Medicine and Andrew Tan, Palliative Medicine Consultant to the CoBH team.

Congratulations to Nursing Apprentice Clare Rickman and Staff Nurse Olive Gibb.  We have been supporting Clare over the past three and a half years of her training and we were delighted to hear that Clare achieved 100% in her drug calculations module.
Olive recently achieved her Red Belt in Tai Kwon Do.
What an amazing team we have.

Hospice Team takes on The General Winchester 10k obstacle run.  Watch this space as our staff team takes on the ultimate challenge in April.

We are recruiting registered nurses and health care assistants.  Please see here for vacancies or email your CV and details for an informal chat.  (No agencies please)

HUGE thanks to Father Christmas and all his lovely elves for fundraising for us over the two weeks before Christmas and to everyone who has supported the Santa Cruises and other events. Father Christmas and his elves brought us a cheque for £5,150 – thank you so much.  You can still donate here.

Light Up A Life 2021
Thank you to everyone who dedicated a light in memory of a loved one this Christmas.  We raised almost £7,300 to support our hospice services.  We would like to thank Test Valley Brass, Andover Ladies Choir and Rev Sarah Wehr for their help with this year’s dedication service.  You can still watch the dedication which was filmed at St Mary’s Church.  Click here for the link.
The Light Up a Life Tree is outside the entrance to the hospice and a light shines for each person named.  The tree will be lit until Twelfth Night.

Dandelion Cafe – Will be back in 2022
To keep you, our patients and staff safe, we need to wait for latest Covid guidelines/restrictions before issuing dates.

Thank you to Donna Bell and the Residents of Lion Oak Court
Donna Bell, the Activities & Well-being Coordinator at Lion Oak Court took part in the World Record breaking ‘most people to take part in a remote 5k in 24 hours’.  The residents all supported Donna and fundraised as well to raise £346.50 for CoBH.  Michele was delighted to receive the donation from Sheila Clayton, chairperson of the residents group and Connie Watts the treasurer.

Local company Simplyhealth supports CoBH at Christmas
Simplyhealth are spreading some Christmas cheer by donating a total of £40,000 to ten local charities and communities in need this festive season. Simplyhealth allocated every colleague £40 from their Community Fund and asked them to select one of five community groups, each containing two charities that need a helping hand. The categories were local foodbanks, homeless charities, elderly care, young carers and hospices.  We were nominated and were delighted to receive £4,400.  Thank you so much to all the Simplyhealth Colleagues who voted for us.

We would all like to say THANK YOU to all our super supporters, fantastic fundraisers, faithful Friends of the Hospice, our Coins for the Countess collectors and terrific trustees and volunteers for your support of the Hospice during 2021.
You make the difference.
