We have moved in!
We are delighted to announce that we have moved into the new hospice in the last few days. It was not the move that we had planned with build complications and then the Covid-19 pandemic throwing a spanner in the works. We have been unable to hold the open days and visits to show you this amazing new facility but hospice is now up and running and will be much needed in the next few months. Our grateful thanks to a small team of volunteer tradesmen including George McGaughey, John Campbell, Peter and Alfie Roseveare, Paul Corbin and his team, and supported by Tom McGaughey and Ryan Larden. They have worked tirelessly to finish off the building for us

The photograph on the bottom right shows Kev Reid and his wife sitting on the new mezzanine area. Kev is one of the first patients in the new hospice and we discovered that he fitted the lift in the current hospice back in 2006. He’s tried out the new lift too!
The Hospice continues to operate 24/7 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Day Care is suspended for the time being and our Community Team are supporting patients by telephone. Visitor restrictions are in force. If you have any symptoms, please do not come to the hospice. The Charity Office is closed and staff are working from home. We can access email and the office phone remotely. If you would like to make a donation, please do so online or email us for bank details. If you are bringing cash, a red post box has been put up in the porch of the new hospice for post and donations. This will be emptied on a regular basis and, providing information is given, an acknowledgement will be sent. Please do not ask our clinical staff to accept donations during this period to protect them from handling money. Thank you
A BIG THANK YOU to the George and Dragon for the lovely roast dinners, The Tea Cosy in Hurstbourne Tarrant, Tesco at Weyhill, T K Maxx, Veterans in Action and everyone who has brought food and goodies to the hospice and hospital over the last few weeks. It is very much appreciated.
James Martin Supports CoBH
On 5th March, Trustee Clare Scheckter and her husband, Jody hosted a private supper to raise money for our New Hospice Bed Appeal. Chef and TV presenter, James Martin designed and cooked three fantastic courses for 70 invited guests using amazing local ingredients. Bombay Sapphire and Hildon Water provided drinks and Alan Titchmarsh gave the raffle prize. Sarah McGaughey, our Clinical Matron, explained how important the new beds are for patient care and safety. James and Clare then presented Sarah and our Chairman of Trustees, Lady Mary Fagan with a cheque for £67,620 raised on the night, which has since increased to just under £70,000. A huge Thank You to James, Clare and Jody and everyone who supported us and helped to raise such a staggering amount of money. It was a very special evening.
They did it!
Rachel, Jason and Mick Lewis finally completed their parachute in memory of mum and wife, Tina. Following major surgery, Rachel was able to undertake the jump planned last year – not even the windy weather stopped them this year. They have raised a £669.12 for the hospice. Well done and thank you so much.

AWOW Event – 3 May -CANCELLED
Unfortunately we have had to make the decision to cancel A WOW 2020 due to the coronavirus. We want the event to be a fun filled family day and risking anyone’s health would therefore not be appropriate. We would like to thank you all for the amazing support you have shown. It’s been a fantastic journey which will be continued later this year and we hope to make 2021 even bigger and better. If you feel you still want to do something for the hospice this year, please donate here.
The Foresters Arms Quiz Night on the first Tuesday of each month has also been cancelled until further notice.
10@10 Late Night Walk 2020will now be held onSaturday 19th September.
Full details will be sent out in our July newsletter. This will be our 10th Late Night Walk at the start of the Hospice’s 30th Anniversary. Let’s make it the best ever!
